The Care Act becomes law

From 1 April 2015 care and support in England is changing as The Care Act 2014 become law. The changes are designed to help make care and support more consistent across the country for disabled and older people, and their carers.

These changes include who qualifies for council support, charging for care, the right to challenge decisions and have care reviewed, the right have an Independent Advocate, and the legal right to request a Personal Budget.

These changes will affect people with learning disabilities quite significantly with a new kind of Needs Assessment, a National Eligibility Criteria and 10 new Care Outcomes.
We’ve updated our picture library to reflect these changes, with 40 new pictures added. We hope you’ll find them useful.
