Customer Care Officer
Position: Customer Care Officer
Location: Remote (across the United Kingdom)
Hours: Part-time, Monday to Friday (20 hours per week)
Salary: £14,000 per annum (£28,000 pro rata)

Photosymbols, a leading provider of Easy Read resources, is seeking a friendly, efficient and self-motivated customer service professional to join our remote team. The right person will be passionate about contributing to our work, that makes a real difference in the lives of people with learning disabilities. You will be comfortable with technology, have meticulous attention to detail and understand the importance that cultivating a great experience for our customers has on our overall work as a company.

Key Responsibilities
• Be the friendly face of Photosymbols: Manage enquiries via support ticket, email and telephone promptly, with professionalism and care.
• Develop relationships: Offer a level of service to our customers that stands out for its quality and fosters a feeling of loyalty and community.
• Organisational guru: Maintain meticulous records and manage documents, to make sure the wider team have the information they need on hand at all times.
• Smooth operations: Place orders, manage subscriptions and renewals, and oversee invoices and purchase orders.
• Financial savvy: Work with the Content & Operations Manager to maintain healthy financial operations that support efficient credit control.
• Quality assurance: Proofread materials to ensure accuracy and consistency, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail.
• Tech support: Triage technical questions for our Principal Architect and Software Engineer. We’ll teach you about our systems to equip you to do this.
• Spot trends: Learn what’s important to our customers in order to anticipate their needs, and feed valuable customer insights back to the wider team.
• Drive improvements: Work closely with the Content & Operations Manager to spot and pursue opportunities that improve the customer experience.
Skills and Qualifications
• Experience working with people with learning disabilities is essential to understanding our mission and customer needs.
• Effective communication: Strong written and spoken communication skills to engage with customers and team members.
• Self-organisation: Proven ability to work independently and efficiently, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail: A meticulous approach to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Flexibility and adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Time management: Efficiently prioritise tasks and manage time to meet deadlines.
• Tech-savvy: Ability and willingness to learn new IT systems is essential, as is proficiency in basic IT tasks to jump straight into a home-working role.

Key Responsibilities
Your role will combine technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to accessibility to produce visuals that empower people with learning disabilities.
• Manage the photo library in Adobe Lightroom, ensuring images are tagged, organised, and workflows run smoothly.
• Use Adobe Photoshop to edit raw photos into polished, high-quality visuals.
• Create photorealistic artwork that seamlessly integrates with photographic images, using techniques that complement the Photosymbols house style.
• Utilise generative AI (e.g., MidJourney, Stable Diffusion, or DALL·E) to create non-people components, such as environments or objects, where appropriate.
• Collaborate closely with the Content & Operations Manager to deliver impactful, purposeful images aligned with Photosymbols’ goals.
• Solve visual challenges creatively, such as depicting complex or hard-to-photograph scenarios (e.g., medical equipment, public spaces, abstract concepts).
• Ensure all images meet accessibility standards, reflecting the social model of disability and supporting the needs of people with learning disabilities.
• Maintain Photosymbols’ high creative standards and ensure all visuals adhere to the house style.
Skills and Qualifications
• Understanding of the issues affecting people with learning disabilities is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom: Demonstrated ability to manage image libraries, process raw photos, and produce polished, photorealistic visuals.
• A strong understanding of the social model of disability and principles of accessible design.
• A commitment to creating images that reflect inclusivity and align with the lives of people with learning disabilities.
• Attention to detail: Ensuring technical accuracy and consistency across all visuals.
• Creative problem-solving skills: The ability to tackle visual challenges, such as creating representations of complex or hard-to-photograph scenarios.
• Experience or willingness to learn generative AI tools (e.g., MidJourney, Stable Diffusion, or DALL·E) to enhance image creation.
• Strong organisational skills: Ability to manage workflows, organise digital assets, and maintain structured systems for image production.
• A collaborative mindset with a focus on teamwork: Comfortable working closely with the Content & Operations Manager and contributing to a shared creative vision.
