A great deal has changed in Easy Read over the years.

More people are making it. More people are asking questions about what good Easy Read should look like. New ideas are emerging, and people with learning disabilities are rightly becoming more involved in the conversation.

But there has never really been one shared place for all of that activity.

Today, we are opening EasyRead.co.uk.

At the heart of the website is a new, free Community for everyone involved in Easy Read. It is somewhere to ask for Easy Read you cannot find, show and share work you have made, and discuss the ideas and issues surrounding it.

A small team from Photosymbols will be taking part too. We will help people find answers, welcome new work and encourage good conversations. Most importantly, we want to listen and see what the Community becomes.

There are other things to explore as well.

Easy Read News offers a new way to follow the day’s stories. You can listen to a short summary, read a story in traditional Easy Read or choose a shorter, more visual photo-story version.

You will also find the Easy Read Standard, the Easy Read Checker and Easy Writer, which is free to use and helps turn difficult text into easier words.

These are all things we want to keep developing. As we create more free ideas and services - EasyRead.co.uk will be the place to find them.

This feels like the beginning of a new chapter: a place that can grow alongside the people who make and use Easy Read.

We hope there will be useful questions, generous sharing, lively discussions and plenty of new ideas.
