Creating Easy Read documents from scratch is great when you need full control, but sometimes you just want to get going quickly.
That’s where EasyMaker Templates come in.
Templates are ready-made packs that you can use as a starting point. Pick one, click a button, and you’ve got a fully editable copy to make your own.
The original template stays exactly as it is - you’re always working on your own version.
Finding Templates
Head to EasyMaker and click Start from Template.

You’ll see up to three tabs depending on your account:

EasyMaker Templates - a curated collection we’ve put together to help you get started with common document types
Personal Templates - templates you’ve saved from your own packs (more on this below)
Team Templates - templates shared by other members of your team
Each template shows a preview of its pages so you can see what you’re getting before you commit. Click any page thumbnail to open a larger preview, and use the arrow keys to flick through the pages.
Using a Template
Found one you like? Click Use This Template. We’ll create a copy in your packs and take you straight to the editor. From there you can change anything - the text, the images, the layout. It’s your document now.
Saving Your Own Templates
If you’ve built a pack that you’d like to reuse - perhaps a standard letter format, a regular newsletter layout, or a report structure you use often - you can save it as a template.
On your pack card in EasyMaker, toggle the Template switch on.

That’s it.
Your pack will now appear under Personal Templates whenever you start a new document from a template.
You can turn the template off again at any time by toggling the switch back. Any copies already made from it won’t be affected.
Sharing Templates with Your Team
If your organisation has team features enabled, you can share templates with your colleagues. Make sure Share with Team is turned on for your pack, then enable the Template toggle. Your pack will appear in the Team Templates tab for everyone on your team.
This is a great way to keep your team’s documents consistent - set up a template with your organisation’s preferred layout and let everyone use it as their starting point.
What Happens When You Update a Template?
If you edit a pack that’s saved as a template, the template browser will show the updated version next time someone visits it. But copies that have already been made aren’t changed - they stay as they were when they were created. So you can update your templates without worrying about affecting anyone’s existing work.
Templates are available now in EasyMaker.
Head to Start from Template to browse what’s available, or save one of your own packs to build your personal collection.
