There are some things we just can't photograph. A plumber fixing a leak under a kitchen sink. An archaeologist carefully brushing dirt from a Roman mosaic. Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl.
Our photo shoots involve real actors with learning disabilities, and that's what makes Photosymbols unique. But it also means there are topics we'll never be able to cover with original photography, whether that's because of access, cost, timing, or simply because some subjects need a specific person or place that we can't recreate in a studio.
So we've started adding AI-generated images to the Photo Library.
Built to fit, not to replace
These aren't generic AI images pulled from some stock generator. They're created using the same tools and style settings we built for EasyMaker, designed specifically to sit alongside our handmade Photosymbols. Clean backgrounds, consistent style, no clutter. They look like they belong.
There are already hundreds in there, covering topics from current affairs and public figures to everyday situations that are tricky to photograph. And we're adding more all the time.
Clearly labelled, easy to spot
When you search the Photo Library, AI images appear in their own section below the Photosymbols results. They're clearly marked as AI, so there's no confusion about what you're looking at. Our original photography always comes first.
And if you'd rather not see them at all, just switch off AI images in your preferences. They won't appear in your search results. Your choice entirely.
The same quality you'd expect
Every AI image in the library comes with a full picture summary, proper alt text, and keyword tags, just like our handmade images. You can search for them, download them, and use them in Word, InDesign, PowerPoint, or wherever else you work, exactly the same as any other image in the library.
If you want to browse what's available, we've added an AI Images theme to the Themes page so you can see the full collection in one place.
Why now?
We've always been honest about our approach to AI. We use it where it genuinely helps, and we're careful about how. Adding AI images to the Photo Library means we can cover topics that would otherwise be impossible, from well-known public figures to niche subjects that our users have been asking for. It doesn't replace what we do with real actors and real photography. It fills the gaps.
So next time you're searching for something a bit unusual, scroll past the Photosymbols results and see what's there. You might be surprised.
