In 1999, CHANGE’s Picture Bank was already helping people make information easier to understand. People with learning disabilities helped shape concepts about health, relationships, rights, and everyday life.

The real legacy is years of co-production, lived experience, and pioneering work. Now, Photosymbols is building on that work with Inspired by CHANGE.

We’re reimagining original illustrations with AI, in a modern photographic style designed to sit alongside our Photo Library. And the originals are staying. Both versions, side by side, give you more choice for the people you support.

The CHANGE Picture Bank was already helping make information more accessible.

The value of CHANGE has always been bigger than the illustrations.

It is in the thinking behind them: how to show a difficult idea, make a choice understandable, or help someone talk about their life. People with learning disabilities helped shape those concepts through years of co-production and lived experience.

Photosymbols has given the Picture Bank a new home so that work can continue to be used. Inspired by CHANGE brings the original illustrations together with AI-assisted photographic interpretations that sit comfortably alongside our Photo Library.

The originals are staying. Their familiarity matters. The new images add another option, without asking you to leave the old one behind.

Does Inspired by CHANGE include the originals?

Yes. Inspired by CHANGE is the name for the whole collection: the original CHANGE Picture Bank and the AI-assisted photographic interpretations. You do not have to choose between buying one or the other.

Are the AI-assisted images photographs of real people?

No. They are AI-assisted photographic interpretations, based on the original illustration concepts. They are not documentary photographs or photographs of the people who co-produced the original ideas.

Does every original have an AI-assisted version?

Not yet. The collection includes original illustrations without an AI-assisted counterpart as well as matched pairs. Both styles are available where a pair exists.

We’ll keep developing more interpretations over time, particularly for subjects that need greater human input to get right.

Who on our subscription can use it?

Everyone. Inspired by CHANGE covers all users on your main Photo Library or Easy Read Bundle subscription, not a smaller group, so it is priced for the same user allowance.

Are CHANGE’s specialist sets included?

Yes. The collection includes CHANGE’s specialist sets, such as parenting and health, with pictures about sexuality and relationships, and about abuse and staying safe.

Can I add it if I work on my own?

Yes. It is available for a Personal licence covering one named person. There is no need to pay for extra seats just to access the collection.

What if I only subscribe to EasyMaker?

Inspired by CHANGE requires Photo Library access. You can move to the Easy Read Bundle, which includes Photo Library and EasyMaker, and add Inspired by CHANGE to that subscription.

How does the 40% saving work?

The saving applies to Inspired by CHANGE when you add it to Photo Library or the Easy Read Bundle. For Personal, the collection reference price is £300 a year excluding VAT; the addition costs £180. Photo Library remains £300. With the Bundle, EasyMaker also costs £180, so all three total £660 excluding VAT.

Can I use the images in work for other organisations?

If you create Easy Read for other organisations or sell work containing the images, check the Extended Use Licence requirements with us. Adding Inspired by CHANGE does not automatically include extended use rights.
