Comes with the Photo Library

Everything for one job, in one folder

A project keeps the pictures and Packs for one piece of work together: the leaflet, the care plan, the day trip. File something once and your whole team can find it, add to it and talk about it.

Included with every Photo Library licence. Sharing with certain people needs a team licence.

A project called Mrs Shah's hospital appointment, in a yellow panel with an Edit details and sharing button. It says Shared with your team, what the project is for, then 8 pictures, 1 Pack, added by Sam Patel and Alex Turner, last added 2 minutes ago. Below, a row of pictures: a nurse, a reception desk, a hospital bed, a blister pack of medicine and a hospital waiting room.

Three steps, and the job stays together

Favourites are one long list of everything you ever liked. A project is one job.

  1. Make a project

Name it after the job, not the folder: the leaflet you're writing, the person you're writing it for, the trip you're planning. Add a line saying what belongs in it, so your team knows.

    For exampleMrs Shah's hospital appointment

  2. File things into it

Every picture and every Pack has a folder button. Press it, tick the project, and it's filed. You can tick more than one, and make a new project without leaving the page.

A picture of a reception desk in the Photo Library. The folder button on the picture is pressed, and a panel headed Add to a project lists the projects with tick boxes. Mrs Shah's hospital appointment is ticked. At the bottom there is a box to name a new project, a Create button and a Done button.
  3. Share it with the people doing the work

Keep it to yourself, give it to everyone on your team, or pick certain people and groups. Anyone who can see it can add to it and leave a comment.

The Who can see it? choice: Only me, Everyone on your team, and Only certain people, which is chosen. Below it, under Groups, a group called Day service team with 3 people is ticked, and one called Managers with 2 people is not.

What goes in one

Pictures from the library, pictures you've uploaded, and the Packs you make in EasyMaker.

  • All your projects on one screen

Projects you made at the top, then the ones your team has shared with you. Each card shows what's inside and who it's for, so you can pick up where someone else left off.

    In the Photo Library: Projects

The Projects screen, with a short explanation of what a project is and a New project button. Under Projects you made, four cards: Fire safety leaflet, Hospital Visit, Match Day at Spurs and Mrs Shah's hospital appointment. Each shows a few of its pictures, what it is for, and a count like 8 pictures, 1 pack. Under Shared with you, four cards shared with the team by colleagues: Cookery club by Priya Shah, Swimming club by Tom Hughes, Vaccination Day by Sam Patel and Welcome letters by Bethan Morgan.
  • Say what you need, see what's been done

Comments sit beside the work, so nobody has to go looking in their email for what was agreed. Beside them, a plain record of who added what and when.

At the bottom of any project

Two panels side by side. Comments, with a box to write in, an Add emoji button and two messages: one saying the ward and the nurse are in and the hospital entrance is still needed, and a reply saying the bus has been added. Each message has emoji reactions, such as a thumbs up from You and Priya Shah, and a React button. Activity, a list of entries like You added Nurse and Sam Patel added Reception, each with how long ago.

Good to know

Projects are a way of organising what you already have. Nothing is moved or copied.

up to 50 projects

each, with as many pictures and Packs in them as you like.

  • Filing a picture favourites it too

So it stays in your Favourites as well as the project. Taking it out of the project leaves your Favourite alone.

  • People only see what they could already open

If a Pack in a shared project isn't shared with someone, they don't see it. The project tells them how many things are hidden, not what they are.

  • Deleting a project doesn't delete anything in it

The folder goes. Your pictures, your Packs and your Favourites stay exactly where they were.

  • Renaming and sharing stay with the owner

Whoever made the project, and the account holder, decide its name and who can see it. Everyone else can add things and comment.

Questions

Anything else? Email ask@photosymbols.com.

Does it cost extra?

No. Projects come with your Photo Library licence. Sharing with certain people rather than the whole team uses Groups, which comes with a team licence of 3 or more people.

What's the difference between a project and my Favourites?

Favourites are one long list of every picture you have ever liked. A project is one piece of work, and it can hold Packs as well as pictures. Filing a picture into a project favourites it too, so you lose nothing by using both.

Can my team add to a project I made?

Yes. Anyone who can see a shared project can file pictures and Packs into it and leave comments. Renaming it, changing who can see it and deleting it stay with you and your account holder.

If I take a picture out of a project, do I lose it?

No. It comes out of that project and stays everywhere else, including your Favourites. Deleting a whole project works the same way: the folder goes, the contents stay.

Can I put the same picture in two projects?

Yes. Tick as many projects as you like in the folder panel. Nothing is copied – it is the same picture, filed in more than one place.

Can I share a project with someone outside my team?

Not the project itself. To show somebody a Pack that is in it, send them the Pack's own share link.
