In this video I run through the latest version of EasyMaker with Rachel from SpeakEasy N.O.W. SpeakEasy N.O.W. are a learning disabilities self-advocacy charity who use Easy Read day in and day out in their work across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Rachel and her colleagues were some of the first people to see what EasyMaker could do. We’ve been meeting with them since last year as part of our Newton Project, talking about the impact of AI on the lives of people with learning disabilities, exploring the importance of Easy Read, and testing EasyMaker at different stages of its development. When our team at Photosymbols first started building an AI tool that could convert complicated text into Easy Read in minutes, I’ll admit I wasn’t sure what to expect. AI was only just becoming something I’d consider using in my working life, and I was so used to spending a good chunk of time simplifying text, choosing the right images, and working with layouts for even the simplest Easy Read document. It was only when I gave it a go myself, testing out an early version of EasyMaker, that I realised what was possible.
That’s the experience we want you to have too. EasyMaker is free to experiment with, and it’s the best way to get a feel for how it could fit into your work. Upload a document, paste in some text, or link to a webpage and EasyMaker will guide you step by step. You can even ask it to create a document for you from scratch. Once your first draft is ready, you can explore all the different options for customising your text and images, including generating AI images at no extra cost.
Not just a PDF
But EasyMaker goes further than just Easy Read as a paper-based format. You can try out a whole range of accessible formats on web and mobile for free. When you’re ready to share, simply buy some tokens, unlock your pack and send one easy link. The people you’re sharing with don’t have to decide if they’d prefer audio, Plain English, or Easy Read, they get it all. And if they want to dive deeper, our AI assistant can help them quickly find the information they need.
